Come away with us as we explore and paint this beautiful region of Southern Spain! This is a mixed-media retreat. All mediums are welcome! Tonja will share insight into working in acrylics, pastels watercolor, charcoal, pen & ink and more!
Experience the culture, cuisine, and countryside with others who share your passion for art and travel. We will spend almost two weeks together sketching, drawing, painting, photographing, discovering, relaxing and enjoying this beautiful place together!

Trip includes~
* 14 Night Accommodations: shared or private room with shared or private bath access, shared group living area & kitchen in each home unit, priced per 2 people per room unless otherwise stated. Private rooms are available on a first-come basis with an additional fee.
* Personal attention, care and services of Denis & Sally, proprietors.
* Individual and group art instruction, studio time, demonstrations and critique.
* Transportation to and from touring from La Finca in two 9~seater vans & car.
* Over-night adventure to Ronda, Spain with hotel and/or cabin accommodations.
* Full day spent at Cordoba for the Patio Festival, a celebration that occurs each May honoring the gorgeous flowers, architecture, and culture of this southern Spanish city!
* Most meals and beverages are included! (Even those out on location)
* Several supplies will be on-hand for student use and experimentation.

Where we will stay~
Just 30 minutes from Malaga, and a mile from the beach, our accommodations lay peacefully in 10 acres of Andalucian countryside in the hamlet of Benajarafe Alto, which nestles in the foothills that form a stunning backdrop to this coastline. Located in an area called the AXARQUIA just to the east of Malaga. It is an area famous for wine, its olive oil and, more recently ~ tropical fruit.
One can walk for miles through olive groves, along a latticework of paths. In the spring there is an abundance of wildflowers and herbs - there is even a place where you can find Bee Orchids.
The house itself is built like a typical old Spanish Hacienda around a cool courtyard with a fountain and full of fragrant flowers. It is divided into 3 separate villas, each having 4 Bedrooms, a sitting room, and a fully equipped kitchen. Each house has at least 2 bathrooms. There are 4 bedrooms with their own dedicated bathroom and patios perfect for painting. The villas are situated in grounds including beautiful level gardens a swimming pool with covered painting patios, and 10 acres of mangos, lemons, oranges, olives and figs which contribute
toward a working fruit farm.

Most meals are eaten with the group in a family-style setting. Wine with meals is also included. Additional wine or beverages are available to be added to your own account. Each Casita has it's own kitchen. Yogurt, eggs, fruit, and other items are stocked in each fridge for our breakfasts. Fresh croissants are also brought in daily for us from the village.

Cancellation/Refund Policy~

Cancellations up to 6 months prior to departure will incur a $100 handling fee as well as any unrecoverable costs. Credit card transaction fees may apply.
No refunds for cancellations 1 month or sooner before departure.
If something unforeseen takes place and you have to cancel, we will make every attempt to secure a replacement, (waiting list will be contacted) however,
many trip expenses are set and it is impossible to offer these trips without committed participants.
Full Refunds are only available if a replacement participant is
found to take your spot.

More details:
Individuals are responsible for their own airfare to and from Spain.
We will provide a special taxi for you from a predetermined location. This is included in the trip fees. If you choose to make other arrangements or come to La Finca from the airport directly, you will be responsible for the taxi fees.
Taxi ride will be included to the airport upon departure and from the airport if needed.
It is most effective for us to retrieve you from a location other than the airport. Spain has a monopoly on taxis departing from the airport.
We suggest coming in a day early and staying at a hotel near the airport. This gives you time to recover from jet lag and we can then all save on travel transport expenses. If arriving a day prior to pick-up this is the hotel we suggest you stay at:​
Holiday Inn Express as it is very close by.
Some flexibility may be required, as you'll likely be sharing a cab with other participants. You are welcome to make your own individual travel arrangements, however, taxi costs run somewhere around 60 euros per trip from Malaga to Benajarafe, LaFinca.

(Airport & local Cabs are available to you at the cost of approximately 60 Euros for transport to the Finca. We can provide access to alternative transport if you are NOT leaving from the airport. See airport information links here:

Phones in Spain:
If you want cell phone coverage/data in Spain, we suggest that you purchase a SIM card at the ORANGE store in Malaga, this will cost approximately $15 to $30 US for a month of coverage. Some internet is available onsite, more reliable internet is available at the local cafe in Benajarafe.
