Dramatic and versatile, soft pastels can be one of the most beautiful, yet intimidating of materials.  Tonja will help remove any inhibitions you may have in regard to pastels, giving practical insight into this wonderful media.

Tonja will walk you through the technical aspects of pastel use and beautiful mark-making while introducing you to all available forms of pastel and to various paper options.  Our focus will be on human and animal portraiture.  You will be encouraged and equipped to use pastel with confidence and have fun in the process!

Students are responsible for bringing their own supplies but Tonja will have some items available for experimentation.  Soft and hard pastels in a variety of brands, pastel pencils as well as pan pastels will be available for or you to try during the class.

Students of all skill levels will benefit from this intensive workshop!
